Askew means not doing things the conventional way. Askew is not straight, which makes it queer like me. Askew steps out of line to speak uncomfortable truths. Askew honors theatrical tradition by recognizing its connections with the Japanese root word that gave us “Kabuki.” Askew revels in theatrical grand gestures for their own pleasurable sake. Askew defines “success” on my own tilted terms, not the theatre industry’s.
